Adding FAQs to your knowledgebase

Creating a New Topic

To create a new topic, you can either click “New Topic” from the sidebar, or “Create New Topic” above the listing of defined Topics.

Defining the Topic

Topics are defined within the Admin Console through the use of a simple form. When creating a new Topic, you will be presented with the empty Topic form.

By filling out the fields of the form, you are defining how the FAQ is categorized within your knowledgebase, the phrases that should trigger the FAQ to be answered, as well as the content that will be shown to users.

Create a sample Dialogflow Topic

Let’s begin by creating an FAQ Topic that provides information about Dialogflow.

  1. First enter the Display Name, which for our sample topic will just be “Dialogflow”. Remember that the display name is the title of the card displayed to users.

  2. For now, select the default Department “UNSPECIFIED” and leave Category empty.

  1. Let’s add the Dialogflow logo to the response. Enter the URL https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/c/c7/Dialogflow_logo.svg/1280px-Dialogflow_logo.svg.png as the Image URL.

  2. Enter “Dialogflow Logo” as the image alt text

  3. Enter the URL https://cloud.google.com/dialogflow/docs/ as the external page’s URL to direct users to the Dialogflow docs.

  4. Enter “Dialogflow Docs” as the button text

  1. Leave Contact Info and suggestions empty.

  2. Enter the following values as synonyms:

    Note we are including multiple (even incorrect) phrases that the user may potentially use in requesting this FAQ

  3. Enter the speech and text responses. The text below was taken from Dialoglow’s documentatiopn page. Notice that the speech response is short and succint, while the text response is longer and expands upon the speech response.

  4. Click “Submit” to finish creating the FAQ.

Create a second topic for Google Cloud Platform

Now that we have one FAQ Topic defined, let’s add another.

  1. Enter “Google Cloud Platorm” as the Display Name, and choose UNSEPECIFIED department again.

  2. Fill in the Image and External Page fields as shown below with the following URLs:

  2. Provide the speech and text responses. These responses were taken from the GCP website and wikipedia page.

  3. Click “Submit” to finish creating the FAQ.

View the created topics

After clicking submit, you will be redirected back to the Topics listing page. You should now see the three FAQs you created in the table.

Now that we’ve seeded the knowledgebase, let’s move on and try talking to the bot.
